The National Archives has ambitious goals to make records accessible online.  Bound records can pose a challenge in digitization, to capture text without damaging the binding.  Conservation staff makes adjustable book cradles so one page can be captured and the other side supported.  Here is one useful design, made of archival board. Ridges on the right side let the angle of the raised support board change.   A wide band of Tyvek secured with Velcro lets pages be turned easily.
