You know you have some floppy disks in a box somewhere…do you know what is on them? In the case of obsolescent formats, we focus our attention not on the media, but on the information. Migration to another format is usually the most cost effective strategy. For “born-digital” records that come to the National Archives we have ERA, which is now being used by Federal Agencies.
